Artist Statement

After thirty years as a firefighter I retired and found myself casting about for something real to do. Always drawn to contemporary art, I began to experiment with familiar materials – wood and paint - making sculpture, studio furniture and painting. Being largely self-taught allows a certain freedom to explore the use of materials, but creates difficulty in discussing what I do in artspeak.
