Stacie Chappell Bio
My work explores spatial movement of color and form as a metaphor for psychological states of being. The work suggests expansiveness and balance, and represents a visual stream of consciousness. While viewing the work, I want the viewer to have a perceptual and sensory experience.
As an intuitive painter, I draw upon life experience as my artistic influence; a time, mood or memory. I use a variety of acrylics, inks, enamel and fabric dyes to integrate form, color and pattern. The types of paint media and surface treatments I use react differently, ultimately pushing the element of surprise as form and space develop.
