Young Chang
Bio
What is Memory? What is memory to me? These are the questions that Chang has been asking
in her work. Chang defines memory as a collection of experiences, either real or imagined.
Memory is an inspiration, a muse, the beginning of it all to share the poignancy and beauty
of everything recalled. Chang wants to be able to communicate with her work as a detailed
visual history: the voice of that which is pictorially lost in verbal communication.
Wisdom from the ancient until today... The beauty of Mother Nature... The story behind an
object... The transitions of shadow and light... The essence of all things lost and found...
Up to this point, the works Chang has created were based on distinct recollections. Whether
from the story of a most recent travel, or the tale of ancient beauty from a thousand years
ago, she has designed the works not only to speak as the soul of individuality; but also to
that of the collective: one body that represents a unique individual. Chang expects these
works to remind people of their own memories as well as to share a story about hers.
